Apple Festival – Festa delle mele
From October 27th to 30th 2022, the first Appelfestival will be held in Bolzano. At Piazza Walther, various apple varieties are presented, as well as products that are the result of the processing of apples. These include, among other things, vinegar, gin, cosmetics, and apple paper. In addition, you can sample matching dishes, enjoy musical events, and organize games and workshops for children.
Hunting
Every year from October until the beginning of Advent, South Tyrol is dedicated to the törggelen. The word ‘törggelen’ comes from the Latin ‘torquere’, which means wine glasses. This tradition has a long history. In the autumn, South Tyrolean farmers and wine merchants would gather to taste new wines. Nowadays, törggelen is a combination of autumn hiking and tasting South Tyrolean specialties. After a strenuous hike, you can settle down with your family or friends for a meal at a traditional ‘buschenschank’ (farmer’s café where their own wine is served). Of course, a glass of new wine is included.
Local wine
Do you know the saying: ‘Venice floats on water and Bolzano on wine’? The wine production in Bolzano has a very old tradition and nowadays consists of almost 30 private wineries. Gravel – cycling
Bolzano is the cycling paradise in the heart of the Dolomites. Most mountain passes in the Dolomites are higher than 2,000 meters. There are both easy and difficult climbs. Have you been out on your bike? In the south of Bolzano you will find Italy’s very first automated bike wash.
